ZERO – Youth leaders stand up against zero food waste
Empowering young people and youth workers to take action against food waste through education, sustainability and innovation.
About:
What is ZERO? ZERO is a European Erasmus+ cooperation project that addresses food waste as a social, environmental and educational challenge. The project focuses on empowering youth workers, educators and young people to better understand how food waste is connected to climate change, health and everyday lifestyle choices.Through non-formal education, research-based content and practical learning activities, ZERO creates accessible tools that support young people in developing sustainable food habits and responsible consumption practices. The project combines European policy knowledge, real-life examples and youth-friendly methodologies in order to turn complex food system issues into engaging and understandable learning experiences.
Why ZERO Matters?
Food waste is a growing challenge with serious environmental, social and economic consequences. Every year, large amounts of food are wasted while valuable natural resources are lost and greenhouse gas emissions increase. At the same time, many people across Europe struggle with access to healthy and affordable food. ZERO matters because it focuses on prevention and education, especially at household and community level, where individual choices make a real difference. By targeting young people and those who work with them, the project supports long-term change, helping youth develop awareness, skills and motivation to adopt more sustainable food-related behaviours and to influence others around them.itation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip
